Houses of Change
I know a man who is walking a tight rope between
What we call real and the actor who plays himself.
At times he lies in the fetal position eager to leave
His safe environs and live on a hill, separate from
The so-called world, to find his place in it.
He has left behind a solid and refurbished house but
Yearns for a new house with two doors that lead to the
great ocean inside his soul. Through the crack in the doors
He looks beyond his angry family, the pain of this world,
And the animal inside him, gnawing at the skin of himself.
Yet he stays at the edge of his new house, in the dark garage
Where he looks backwards to clean up the mess of his life.
Surprisingly he finds himself surrounded by angelic beings
Who know him, who love him, and welcome him back. A
Wise goddess lurking inside him suddenly appears, and we
All wait, eagerly, to finding out what will next unfold. So hold
On to your seats. Better yet, let go of them altogether.
